A SIM card or Subscriber Identity Module is a portable memory chip used in some models of cellular telephones. The SIM card makes it easy to switch to a new phone by simply sliding the SIM out of the old phone and into the new one. The SIM holds personal identity information, cell phone number, phone book, text messages and other data. It can be thought of as a mini hard disk that automatically activates the phone into which it is inserted.

A SIM card can come in very handy. For example, let’s say your phone runs out of battery power at a friend’s house. Assuming you both have SIM-based phones, you can remove the SIM card from your phone and slide it into your friend’s phone to make your call. Your carrier processes the call as if it were made from your phone, so it won’t count against your friend’s minutes. (wiseGEEK )

Short message service is a mechanism of delivery of short messages over the mobile networks. It is a store and forward way of transmitting messages to and from mobiles. The message (text only) from the sending mobile is stored in a central short message center (SMSC) which then forwards it to the destination mobile.

The figure below shows a typical organization of network elements in a GSM network supporting SMS.

The SMSC (Short Message Service Center) is the entity which does the job of store and forward of messages to and from the mobile station. The SME (Short Message Entity), which is typically a mobile phone or a GSM modem, can be located in the fixed network or a mobile station, receives and sends short messages.

The SMS GMSC (SMS gateway MSC) is a gateway MSC that can also receive short messages. The gateway MSC is a mobile network’s point of contact with other networks. On receiving the short message from the short message center, GMSC uses the SS7 network to interrogate the current position of the mobile station form the HLR, the home location register.

HLR is the main database in a mobile network. It holds information of the subscription profile of the mobile and also about the routing information for the subscriber, i.e. the area (covered by a MSC) where the mobile is currently situated. The GMSC is thus able to pass on the message to the correct MSC.

MSC (Mobile Switching Center) is the entity in a GSM network which does the job of switching connections between mobile stations or between mobile stations and the fixed network.

A VLR (Visitor Location Register) corresponds to each MSC and contains temporary information about the mobile, information like mobile identification and the cell (or a group of cells) where the mobile is currently situated. Using information form the VLR the MSC is able to switch the information (short message) to the corresponding BSS (Base Station System, BSC + BTSs), which transmits the short message to the mobile. The BSS consists of transceivers, which send and receive information over the air interface, to and from the mobile station. This information is passed over the signaling channels so the mobile can receive messages even if a voice or data call is going on.

And hold on to your dreams
As these are the people
Who do well it seems

Don’t lose track of your values
As time slips along
For if you heed to them
You won’t go wrong

Nokia has been faraway in leading the world for human life innovation and improve its living. Just as I have watched their visioned Future Technology. The company called this new technology as Nokia Morph. In partnership with Cambridge Nanoscience Center, Nokia would want to improve living by using the latest venture, nanotechnology.

By the use of nanotechnology, your device could be your personal computer, media device and even your wearable watch.

It could detect chemical compound. It a very sophisticated device that it is almost water repellant with a very stylish see-through design. Stretachable and could be formed almost anything. And lastly, one of its feature is that nit can grasp solar energy, so there is no need to charge it overtime and pay for its cost.

This is just an assumption of what their studies could bring up to. Nevertheless, Nokia has great come up with a very smart and brilliant idea in in ways of innovating the technology for the future.

Holy Week

As we now practice it, Holy Week is the last week of the 40 day season of Lent and the week preceding Easter. In Holy Week we focus on the last week of Christ’s life, remembering especially His passion and resurrection. Though calling this week "Holy Week" is more of a recent innovation, the annual observance of the festivals within it are of ancient origin.

Palm/Passion Sunday

Palm Sunday is the commemoration of our Lord’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem five days before His crucifixion.  This day takes it’s name from the fact that as Jesus approached Jerusalem on a donkey , the huge crowd that followed carried palm branches as they praised Him. The people hailed Him as the long awaited "Son of David," that is, the Messiah.

Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday (also known as Holy Thursday and Green Thursday) remembers the events in the upper room the night before Jesus died. This is the institution of the Lord’s Supper and the eating of the Passover meal.

Good Friday

Good Friday, also called Holy Friday or Great Friday, is the Friday before Easter (Easter always falls on a Sunday). It commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus at Calvary.

Black Saturday

(Also knwon as Sábado de Gloria) is also called The Great Sabbath since it is on this day that Christ "rested" physically in the tomb. But it is also believed that it was on this day he performed in spirit the Harrowing of Hell and raised up to Paradise those held captive there.

Easter Sunday

Easter, the celebration of Christ’s resurrection, is the queen of the Christian holy days. The word "easter" and the German "Ostern" come from common source, referring to the direction from which the sun rises. In other words, the word referred to the celebration of the spring sun, when all things returned to life. This symbolism was transferred to the resurrection of Christ who brings us new life. There is no evidence that the word "easter" was the name of a Anglo-Saxon goddess "Eostre." This is based on a passage in the writings of the Christian author, Bede, who in the eighth century erroneously ascribed the word to the goddess.

Pursuing for higher education is one of the manifestations of a person who really wants a change in the quality of life. To improve one’s knowledge is a great challenge and a very tedious task. But, a successful attempt towards self-enrichment through acquiring new knowledge would mean very big in this complicated world.

What is the most expensive dress in the world?

On July 28 2004 Samantha Mumba attended the premiere of Spider-Man II in the world’s most expensive dress.

Created by Scott Henshall the dress contains about 3,000 diamonds in the shape of a spider’s web and would cost you, not only the clothes off your back, but an additional £5 million as well.

The cost of her dress would compete  to the cost of the movie she was about to watch.
