ASIMO is a humanoid robot created by Honda Motor Company. Standing at 130 centimeters (4 feet 3 inches) and weighing 54 kilograms (119 pounds), the robot resembles a small astronaut wearing a backpack and can walk or run on two feet at speeds up to 6 km/h (3.7 mph). ASIMO was created at Honda’s Research & Development Wako Fundamental Technical Research Center in Japan. It is the current model in a line of eleven that began in 1986 with E0.

Officially, the name is an acronym for "Advanced Step in Innovative MObility". Honda’s official statements indicate that the robot’s name is not a reference to science fiction writer and inventor of the Three Laws of Robotics, Isaac Asimov. In Japanese, the name is pronounced ashimo and, not coincidentally, means "legs also".

As of 2007, there are 46 ASIMO units in existence. Each one costs less than $1 million to manufacture, and some units are available to be hired out for $166,000 per year.

Walt Whitman, American poet, journalist, and essayist, was born on May 31, 1819, in West Hills, New York. His verse collection Leaves of Grass is a landmark in the history of American literature. Whitman grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and at age twelve began to learn the printing trade. Over time he moved from printing to teaching to journalism, becoming the editor of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle in 1846. He began experimenting with a new form of poetry, revolutionary at the time, free of a regular rhythm or rhyme scheme that has come to be known as free verse. In 1855, Whitman published, anonymously and at his own expense, the first edition of Leaves of Grass. Revolutionary too was the content of his poems celebrating the human body and the common man. Whitman would spend the rest of his life revising and enlarging Leaves of Grass; the ninth edition appeared in 1892, the year of his death.

Scientists have developed the world’s tiniest refrigerator - and it’s pretty cold too. Even smaller than a college dorm fridge, the microchip sized fridge can cool objects down to -459 degrees Fahrenheit.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology-designed refrigerators, each 25 by 15 micrometers, are sandwiches of a normal metal, an insulator and a superconducting metal. When a voltage is applied across the sandwich, the hottest electrons "tunnel" from the normal metal through the insulator to the superconductor. The temperature in the normal metal drops dramatically and drains extra heat energy from the objects being cooled.

The researchers used four pairs of these sandwiches to cool the contents of a silicon nitrate membrane that was 450 micrometers on a side and 0.4 micrometers thick. A cube of germanium 250 micrometers on a side, about 11,000 times larger than the combined volume of the fridges was glued on top of the membrane. This is roughly equivalent to having a refrigerator the size of a person cool an object the size of the Statue of Liberty. Both objects were cooled down to about -459° F.

The refrigerators are made using common chip-making lithography methods, which makes it easy to integrate them in production of other micro scale devices. These tiny fridges are much smaller and less expensive than conventional equipment. The fridges have applications such as cooling cryogenic sensors in highly sensitive instruments for semiconductor analysis and astronomical research.

ENIAC, short for Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer, was the first general-purpose electronic computer. It was the first high-speed, Turing-complete, digital computer capable of being reprogrammed to solve a full range of computing problems, though earlier machines had been built with some of these properties. ENIAC was designed and built to calculate artillery firing tables for the U.S. Army’s Ballistic Research Laboratory.

What is Google’s mission? How did Google begin?

Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. The first step toward fulfilling that mission came when our founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, working out of a Stanford University dorm room, developed a new approach to online search that quickly spread to information seekers around the globe. Google is now widely recognized as the world’s largest search engine — a free service whose utility and ease of use have made it one of the world’s best-known brands almost entirely through word of mouth from satisfied users.

What does Google do?

Google is a global technology leader focused on improving the ways people find and use information. We maintain the world’s largest online index of websites and other content and, via our automated search technology, make this information freely available, nearly instantly, to anyone with an Internet connection.

Google primarily generates revenue by delivering relevant, cost-effective online advertising. Businesses use our AdWords program to promote their products and services with targeted advertising. In addition, the thousands of third-party websites that comprise our Google network use our Google AdSense program to deliver relevant AdWords ads that generate revenue and enhance the user experience.

In my own words... 1:51 am

I had a chance to see a very long-lost friend way back from high school. Honestly, I was not able to catch up with the different gigs and parties from the group since I choose to make a distance from them and concentrate more on work. Same things, they usually invite me with the different hangouts they are having about and I get the chance to have a break from the tiresome work and thought this is the right time to have some vacation. On the night of the party, I first saw my best friend. She told me that I seemed to change nothing since from then I left in high school. Well, let us say that I still enjoy my current job and that I have maintained everything and have look to be like preserved myself for many years and change nothing at all. Anyways, she brought me to the group where bottles of beers were scattered and that everyone appeared to have a partner. Well, I think I am the only one left without partner and Hannah, so I presume she and I got to be the partners for the night.

As the time past, the thrill and degree of intense with the topics we are discussing got deeper. Since I was the one who appeared to be the long lost sheep, I became the man on the spot light. They asked and asked me for anything they could think of from love life up to my current job. Well, I just thought it was my prize and should just go with the flow. All were really drunk I and that I admittedly one of them. It seems that the air got too low and I thought to go out for a second to get some fresh air. Hannah saw me leaving and I thought she thought to join me outside. I never had any intension but I really find her beautiful on that night. Well, she used to be beautiful even when we are still high school but that night looked really different. She wore a pink dress with beautifully expressed breast and shape of the body. I never thought she could transform her body like that with the years we never have seen each other. A natural breast enhancement may have been one of the factors, perfect woman cream or breast actives but I should admit I got really tempted. Amazingly I appreciated, or just I thought like it because of the influence of the depressant. Nevertheless, she came out to be the most beautiful girl on that night.

Our human body is very susceptible to common sickness such as colds, cough, irritation and all are caused by a virus. A virus enters the human body through the different holes and openings and attached itself to a host cell. It releases certain genetic information to a cell and recruits other cells for greater destruction. On the other hand, there are high breed viruses which does not need a hole or an opening from a body to destruct, it just find some weakness points from the human host and there it enters and propagates itself very fast.

How does a computer virus simulate a biological virus? Just as a biological virus injects its own genetic information into a cell and interferes with the body’s normal operations, a computer virus is a program written to interfere with the proper functioning of a computer. It may damage programs, delete files, reformat hard disks and perform other forms of destructive acts.

To be classified as a virus, a program must meet two criteria. It must be able to execute itself by placing its own code in the execution path of another program. The program must also be able to replicate itself by replacing existing computer files with copies of the virus-infected files. Similar to the way a biological virus requires a host cell, a computer virus requires an infected host file to propagate itself.
